Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards is New England’s oldest vineyard, founded in 1975. The vines are grown on 150 acres of land overlooking the Sakonnet River.
The vineyard produces four varieties of wine: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Cabernet Franc.
The wines are made using traditional methods, and the grapes are hand-picked and sorted before being crushed and pressed. The resulting wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months.
The final product is a delicate balance of fruit and acidity, with a subtle oak flavor.
Carolyn’s Sakonnet Vineyards is open for wine tours and wine tastings from June through October. visitors can explore the vineyard, learn about the winemaking process, and sample the wines.
There is limited outdoor seating but guests are free to bring blankets and chairs to enjoy wines and lite bites.
Another great place for a Newport Rhode Island Wine tour.
