The Traditional Block Island ferry is our year-round service ferry that transports passengers and vehicles to and from Block Island. The ferry departs from Point Judith, Rhode Island, and arrives in Block Island in about an hour. There are several departures daily, and the schedule changes seasonally, so be sure to check the schedule before you plan your trip.
Taking your vehicle over on the ferry requires planning and pre-booking because of the demand and limited availability.

The ferry has both a car deck and a passenger deck, and there is a snack bar on board. The ferry sails twice daily, and tickets can be purchased online or at the dock.
High-Speed Ferry
The High-Speed Block Island Ferry is a ferry that connects the mainland of Rhode Island with the island of Block Island. The High Speed Block Island ferry service runs year-round, with multiple departures from both ports each day.
The crossing time is about 30 minutes, and passengers can buy tickets online or onboard. The ferry has several different classes of service, including economy, standard, and luxury.
The Block Island Ferry from Newport to Block Island.
The Newport Hi-Speed ferry provides a quick way to travel to Block Island. The service runs from the Newport terminal, located in Perrotti Park. Motor Vehicle transport is not offered on the Hi-Speed Ferry, but bicycles are accepted. Passenger tickets can be purchased online or at the ticket counter on the date of travel as space allows. The ferry takes about 60 minutes to sail to Block Island.
